SRM University

Sri Ramaswamy Memorial University is more popularly known as SRM University. It is a private university with campuses at Chennai, Modinagar (Ghaziabad) and Trichy. SRM University is approved by the University Grants Commission and awarded with ISO 9001:2000 certification. It has been accredited with the A+ rating by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) and has also been awarded by Best ISTE Chapter Award in the whole region.

SRM University offers various undergraduate, postgraduate, diploma and certificate programs in the professional fields of Engineering, Medicine, Management and Sciences & Humanities. All the undergraduate degree courses offered by the University are of the duration of 2-4 years. Undergraduate coursers offered by it include BCom, BSc, BA, LLB, BBA etc. Postgraduate include LLM, MA, MBA and MSc.

 

The University has collaborated with international institutes to facilitate exchange of information, faculty, etc. Top ranking, meritorious students of each batch are given the opportunity to spend a semester in foreign institutions like the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (USA), Carnegie Melon University (USA), University of California - Davis (USA), University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee (USA), University of Western Australia (Australia), Birmingham City University (UK), Kyushu Institute of Technology (Japan), Lille Catholic University (France), Technical University Chemnitz (Germany), etc. Some of these meritorious students are offered scholarships while most of the students are supported by their family, during their time abroad.

Sri Ramaswamy Memorial University provides facilities like hostels, library, cafeteria, laboratory, mess, playgrounds, indoor sports etc. Besides these facilities, it has established a 16 storey IT Park. The University maintains several hostels, some of which are the KRS hostel, Medical College boy’s and girl's hostel, the UG hostel, the PG hostel, Meenakshi girl's hostel and International hostel. It houses a state-of-the-art library that has a vast collection of books covering various branches of the University faculties and its related fields.

SRM University has evolved from SRM Engineering College that was established in the year 1985. In 2003-04 it gained the status of a deemed University and named as SRM Institute of Science and Technology. Eventually it was christened SRM University. Finally in the year 2006 it attained the status of a full-fledged university, under section 3 of the UGC Act 1956. The parent organization of the University is the SRM Group which manages several other ventures viz. SRM Hospital, Geetha Constructions, Royal Southern Hotels, SRM Printers, SRM Benefit Fund Ltd., SRM Systems and Software, SRM Easwari Travels and Tours India (P) Ltd., and Blossom Infotech.
