Kakatiya University, situated in the historical town of Warangal has completed 25 years of its existence. Located in an important town of Telengana region, the University extends its jurisdiction to cover the four economically backward districts of north Telengana region of Andhra Pradesh, namely Adilabad, Karimnagar, Khammam and Warangal.
Educational streams
Kakatiya University offers programs at Undergraduate and Postgraduate level in the faculties of Arts, Science, Commerce and Business Management, Social Sciences, Education, Engineering and Pharmaceutical Sciences. Apart from the regular full time courses, the University offers distance education mode at the School of Distance Learning and Continuing Education (SDLCE) to bestow Master's degree, Postgraduate diploma programs and Certificate programs.
Facilities
Kakatiya University has made provisions for residential accommodation of the students. There are seven hostels in the campus and two more hostels outside the campus at Subedari to accommodate the students of University Post-Graduate College and University College of Law. The university guesthouse has provisions for the comfortable stay of VIPs and guests. A health officer takes care of the needs of the Students, Research Scholars, Teaching and Non-teaching staff by providing quality medical aid. It has facilitated well-ventilated classrooms with audio-video facilities, seminar halls, computer labs, and faculty rooms, science department laboratories equipped with the ultra modern scientific instruments to accelerate effective research.
History
Kakatiya University was established in 1967 and named so after the great Kakatiya Dynasty which ruled this region with Warangal as capital during the twelfth and thirteenth centuries. The rulers of Kakatiya ensured political stability, economic prosperity, linguistic and cultural unity and bestowed artistic splendor and literary efflorescence in their kingdom. Telugu people feel touched by the term Kakatiya as it strikes an emotional chord in their hearts.
