Dr B R Ambedkar Marathwada University, located in the city of Aurangabad in Maharashtra, is a member of The Association of Indian Universities, AIU. It is a state university, recognized by the University Grant Commission, UGC, Delhi, and has been accredited by National Assessment and Accreditation Council (NAAC) Bangalore with B+ Grade.
Educational Streams
The university imparts undergraduate, postgraduate courses as well as research activities under its academic departments. In addition it schedules Continuing Education program as per the guidance of University Grants Commission, New Delhi, through Diploma in Adult Continuing and Extension Education and Post Masters Diploma in Counseling. Several self-financed certificate courses are available in Beauticians and Personality Development, Human Rights, Dairy Farming, Dress-making and Designing, Anganwadi / Balwadi (Nursery), Rural Journalism, Library Management, Sales Representative, Art of Living and Communicative English. The university has implemented the National Adult Education and Extension Programme as per the guidance of University Grants Commission (UGC). The university has proper infrastructure to conduct research programs. It also provides social work education including its politicial, economical, physical and cultural aspects.
Facilities
In order to create a status of reputed academic center, the university exists with all the residential facilities by providing Hostels, Canteen, Health Center, Banking, Post Office and Guest House. Students may have opportunity to get consultancy services from IAS and SET/NET Coaching Centers. University Employment and Guidance Bureau, University Network and Information Center and E-Suvidha are other key facilities in and around the university campus.
History
Dr B R Ambedkar Marathwada University Aurangabad was founded in 1958 as Marathwada University. On 14th January, 1994 the University was renamed as Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Marathwada University to pay homage to work done by Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar for the educational development of Marathwada region.
