Indira Gandhi Institute of Physical Education and Sports Science was established in the year 1987, and is affiliated to University Of Delhi. The institute is recognized by the National Council for Teacher Education (NCTE), from the year 2000. It is a leading institute of DU, which offers all the categories of teacher training courses in physical education. Indira Gandhi Institute of Physical Education & Sports Science provides the latest technologies and facilities to its students and staffs, for a quality impartation of the courses, because these courses need a lot practical performances.
For more facilities, Indira Gandhi Institute of Physical Education and Sports Science is proposing to develop students-hostels, staff-quarters, gymnasium, swimming pool, auditorium, synthetic 400 M track, synthetic hockey field and all other required infrastructure at its new site, that’s foundation has been laid by the chief minister of Delhi Sheila Dixit. Named after late Mrs.Indira Gandhi, the first lady Prime Minister of India Indira Gandhi, Institute of Physical Education and Sports Science was established in August, 1987 by the Delhi Administration. The three year degree course was started in 1987.

Undergraduate:
Admission in B.Sc course is done after completing 10+2 with at least 45% marks. Age should be between 17 to 20 years. .One can also apply for the course if having a certificate in Physical Education.
Post Graduate Diploma:
A Graduate candidate is eligible.
Post Graduate:
Admission in post graduate programmes is made after completing B.Sc. (P.E.H.E. &S.)/B.P.E./D.P.Ed./B.P.Ed./P.G.D.P.Ed. He/she must have obtained at least 50% marks.
Doctorate:
A candidate with the Master’s degree in the respective subject is eligible.
