Government Medical College Srinagar (Jammu & Kashmir) was established in 1959. The medical college is counted amongst the premier colleges of India. Affiliated to University of Kashmir, the college has been ranked amongst the top five medical colleges in the country. GMC Srinagar has been a boon to the people of the state.
Currently, Government Medical College Srinagar offers various courses in medical sciences, which includes MBBS, MS, MD and post-graduate diploma. Several hospitals are associated with the medical college and patients from the entire Jammu and Kashmir are being referred to it.

The candidate should have secured minimum of 50% marks in 10+2 examination with subjects Physics, Chemistry and Biology, from a recognized Board.
Post Graduate:
Candidate should pass final M.B.B.S Examination from recognized Medical College and should complete one year rotating Internship.

Students are admitted purely on the basis of Merit obtained in the Common Entrance Examination. The examination is held by the Board of Professional Entrance Examination once every year.
