National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad, conducts the National Entrance Examination For Design. NEED is organized for admission into the various undergraduate levels of programs in designs, offered in following associate group of institutes - National Institute of Design, Ahmedabad, D. J. Academy of Design, Coimbatore, IILM School of Design, Gurgaon, Wigan & Leigh College, New Delhi and Pearl Academy of Fashion, New Delhi.

The entrance test is conducted for the following course:
Graduate Diploma Programme in Design (GDPD)
Eligibility
The candidate must pass their Higher Secondary Examination or equivalent examination like AISSCE/ IB/ ICSE etc. Candidates appearing the final of the qualifying examination are also eligible to appear the entrance test. Candidate must be of 20 years of age, and for the reserved categories there is a relaxation of three years in the upper age limit. Knowledge or proficiency in the technical or related subjects, considered as an advantage at the time of admission.
Examination Pattern
NEED exam comprises of objective types multiple choices questions. It comprise of questions related to the field of design involving general mental ability, worldview, and sensitivity to environment, creativity, drawing and communication skills.
