Course Details
For a career in Legal Consultancy, a LLB degree is must. The minimum qualification for this course is graduation. The LLB course is sponsored by the Bar Council of India. Admission into the LLB courses is made through entrance test conducted by concerned university or institutions. LLB programme also include practical experiences like attending courts. Besides there is one year mandatory internship courses for gaining real practical experiences. For consultancy purpose an ordinary LLB degree is not sufficient. One has to do some specialized courses. There are various branches of specialisation in law like civil law, criminal law, corporate law, income tax law, international law, labour law, constitutional law, and patent law etc.
Career Prospects
Legal Consultants have multiple career options. Government departments are such as Defense, Foreign Affairs, Income Tax, Sales Tax, Custom and Excise and Legal Affairs etc required the services of professional Legal Consultants. Growing number of private law firms and consultancy houses recruit large number of legal consultants. Thus legal consultants having qualifications and experience in various fields of law like Taxation laws, Patent Laws, Corporate Laws, Constitutional Laws and Labour Laws have bright career option in corporate houses, publishing houses, industries and media houses etc. Besides Legal consultants can also opt for self-employment by starting their own legal consultancy firms.

Legal Consultancy is a highly remunerative profession. Legal consultants in public sector have good pay packages according to the terms and conditions of the government. But those who join private legal firms have good salaries along with varieties of perks. Multinational Companies recruiting legal consultants even offer very attractive pay packages. Legal consultancy is also highly remunerative for people who are practising privately. Their earnings depend upon the numbers and nature of their clients.
