Careers in Hospitality

India is ranked 11th in Asia and 62nd in the world for its richest cultural heritage and beautiful flora and fauna, according to a recent Travel and Tourism Competitiveness Report of World Economic Forum. This suffices the reason for the growing importance of hospitality in the country. The word ‘hospitality’ can be defined as a relationship between a visitor and a host. In other words, hospitality mainly concentrates on the services provided to the customers. The field of hospitality requires personal skills, like sense of responsibility, helpful and friendly nature, and attractive appearance, along with good presence of mind. On realizing the significance of the hospitality sector in the country, a number of institutes have started courses in this field, under the administration of National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology (NCHMCT), an autonomous body under the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India. Scores of job opportunities are available in the hospitality sector, including hotels, travel and tourism, and aviation.
